Security of your IT Systems should be a priority for everyone in the business.
Much of the value in businesses today is held in digital form on computers. Items such as designs, customer records, presentations and proposals. You would not leave your premises unlocked at night, why then do you leave all this value open to hackers, data theft and viruses.
As a priority you must get your business secure. You need a baseline to start from. We can provide a simple “Security Health-check” service that will help you to get secure.
This covers three main areas:-
- Technology
- People
- Policies and Procedures

We check that your technology is as secure as possible. With so many security patches being announced it is easy to become overwhelmed. This is especially true of smaller businesses wher the responsibility for IT can part of another function such as Finance or Operations. A “Security Health-check” will check the condition of security on all your PCs and Servers. It will also check the security of your internet connections and any firewalls or anti-virus software installed.
For most companies’ their investment in technology only provides the proper return when the people are trained and use their PCs and software in an efficient way. A security audit will check that your people understand the implications of information security. Many companies find that this is best done by a short introduction to Information Security for all staff as part of a “Security Health-check”.
The pace of technology change means that many businesses have not updated their policies and procedures to cope with this. Employment contracts that do not cover such things as internet and e-mail usage provide no protection for the employer if an action is brought against the company for innapropriate use of the internet, for instance. Procedures should also be in place for the actions to be taken in the event of an information security breach such as a virus getting on to your computers or ensuring that data is backed up and stored off site.
At the end of a “Security Health-check” you will receive a very simple check list showing those areas that are secure, those that are not and a list of recommendations. You can then use this as an internal document to undertake the required actions or give it to your external IT supplier or we can undertake to resolve these issues for you.
Security Tune-Up
A Security Tune-Up is a simplified version of the full Security Health-check and is intended to ensure that the whole company is committed to the concepts of information and data security. Each of the three areas, technology, people and policies and procedures that are implemented as part of a Heath-check are checked again and a reprot produced of how compliant the business is to its security commitment.
